Foodbanks are sadly a crucial community safety net that catches people when they fall. I visited one in Hockwell Ring on Friday and heard about the resources required to run the foodbank and cope with increased demand.

The team are supported by the wonderful local volunteers as well as receiving generous donations from Lidl, Aldi, Sainsburys and the Co-op. However, as demand expands, the team need a van to continue to collect these donations from Luton and the surrounding areas. If you or anyone you know can assist with this, please contact them via their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/699738461332762.

No one should have to rely on foodbanks to survive. I will continue to challenge poverty and build a future where they are no longer needed, but I am incredibly grateful to teams like Christine’s for all the wonderful work they do.
