It was great to address the APPG on Adult Social Care’s parliamentary reception last week in my first engagement as the newly elected co-chair.

I know the challenges social care faces from my time as a domiciliary carer and Health Care Assistant. People deserve social care that is valued for the life saving and life giving support it provides.

I am pleased that Labour is committed to the introduction of fair pay agreements for care workers to protect pay, secure employment and strengthen their rights from day one.
I look forward to taking up my role as co-chair to champion the work of the APPG to ensure a vision for social care that prioritised choice and fulfilled lives is made a reality for everyone who draws on care and support.
